3 Division Promotes Majors, As GOC Charges Officers For Dedication To Duty

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) Division and Commander Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), Major General EF Oyinlola, charged officers of the division to remain steadfast in their military duties as eight newly promoted Majors were decorated in a colorful investiture ceremony.

In a statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations of the Division said the event, held at the Rhino Officers Mess, on 16 September 2025, was attended by division commanders, staff officers, the families and well-wishers of the celebrants. It marked a significant milestone for the promoted officers and underscored the Nigerian Army’s commitment to recognizing leadership and merit.

While addressing the newly promoted Majors, the GOC congratulated them on their well-deserved elevation and acknowledged the immense trust placed in them by the Nigerian Army. “Your elevation to this enviable rank today testifies to your hard work, leadership qualities, and the trust reposed in you by the Army,” Major General Oyinlola remarked. He urged the Majors to remain disciplined and lead by example, highlighting the weighty responsibilities that accompany the new rank. “You must lead your subordinates by example in your respective formations as you transition to senior officers,” he added.

General Oyinlola while congratulating to the officers and their family members, he acknowledged the pivotal role 

Played by families in supporting service members as they discharge duties nationwide. “Our families are our backbone, and I commend their strength for holding the home front while we serve across the country,” he stated.

In a vote of thanks delivered on behalf of the newly promoted officers, Major DD Mshelia expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen OO Oluyede, for finding them worthy of the elevation and pledged unwavering dedication to exceed the expectations that accompany the rank.

 Mshelia also lauded the GOC for exemplary leadership and the mentorship that shaped the officers’ professional development, while thanking commanders and senior officers for their guidance. “Your presence has made this day truly memorable,” he told attendees, and extended well-wishes for journey mercies to all.

The investiture program featured the decoration of officers, addresses offering further guidance to the new Majors.
