Anti-graft Agency Urges Media to Expose Wrong Doing in Jigawa

The  Jigawa State Public Complaints and Anti- Corruption Commission(JSPCACC) has charged media professionals to exposed any wrong doing in any ministry, agency to ensure transparency and Accountability.

The call was made by the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Barrister Salisu Abdu while delivering his speech to Commemorate with International Anti-Corruption Day (9th December 2025), held at the Commission.

 The chairman who described media as eyes and ears of the citizens, said this year’s theme is “YOUR VOICE, OUR ACTION, REPORT, RESIST AND BUILD A CORRUPTION- FREE JIGAWA STATE”.

“You are the eyes and ears of our democracy, Continue to use your freedom of expression responsibly to expose wrong doing. Do not pay bribes, and do not accept them. Utilize our Whistleblower Protection Policy (WPP) and report through our dedicated channels corruption with confidence.

“Your partnership is invaluable, and your identity will be protected.  Demand transparency and accountability from your local government officials, contractors, and civil servants”, he said. 

According to him, this year’s theme underscores the essential truth that the Commission cannot succeed in isolation. The fight must be owned by the government, the private sector, and every citizen.Corruption is the single greatest obstacle to the prosperity envisioned by His Excellency, Governor Mallam Umar Namadi FCA.

While speaking on the Achievements recorded by the commission, He explained that, From April, 2024 when the Commission began operation, it has recorded a modest success as follows: Received a total of 479 Complaints.

110 Cases including Corruption and Financial Crime Cases breach of trust cheating and fraud, Funds and Properties Recovery, this represents thorough investigation and successful closure. 

Barrister Salisu Abdu maintained that, a total sum of N385, 494,602.33 Million was recovered for both government and private individual and corporate entities.While the private assets are returned to individual complainants, the Public funds recovery funds returned to the State Treasury.Handling 115 complaints related to Funds Recovery and Assets Recovery including Landed Properties. 

He added that, filed and Prosecute 20 cases at Magistrate and State High Court demonstrates success in meeting the Prosecution Test and confidence in evidence. Arrests and Invitations of numerous senior government Officials and Contractors charged with offenses.
