The CLEEN Foundation with support from Norwegian Embassy has organized a two day Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) capacity Strengthening for Policing/Law enforcement and judicial Stakeholders in Jigawa state.
Speaking during the workshop Mr Olaniyi Olumayowa, Research and Strategy Development Officer of CLEEN Foundation said, the gathering aimed at improving and ensuring smooth and effective implementation of Administration of Criminal Justice Law in Jigawa state.
He explained that, the Stakeholders during the meeting identified a major challenges of ACJL and brainstorm on a better case management and how to reduce case backlog for speedy judgement.
According to him, some of the challenges identified as major bottleneck to Administration of Criminal Justice Law includes; inadequate funding, need for reformation of Laws, and some bad attitudes toward implementation of ACJL.
Mr Yowa said, the participants agreed to work in collaboration and synergies as well as to embarked on attitudinal change campaign through use of Civil Society Organizations and media to achieve the desired goals.
The Research Officer added that, the participants were brought from Ministry of Justice, National Correctional Services, Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Civil Defense Corps, Nigeria Bar Association, Department of Public Prosecution, Civil Society Organizations, Media, among many other relevant Stakeholders.
He then urged the Stakeholders to collaborates and committed towards successful implementation of ACJL in Jigawa state.
