The Honourable Minister of Defence, His Excellency Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, today received in audience a delegation of the Forum of Former State Legislators of Northern Nigeria (now in APC), led by its Chairman, Hon. Makpa Malla, former Chief Whip of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly.
This was contained in a statement signed by Personal Assistant to the minister on Media and Publicity Alhaji Mati Ali and made it available to news men.
The meeting was held at the Minister’s office, Ministry of Defence Headquarters, Ship House, Abuja today,Wednesday, 22nd October,2025.
Hon. Makpa Malla informed the Minister that the Forum was recently established to bring together former lawmakers across the Northern region who are members of the APC, under a common platform dedicated to promoting peace, unity, and sustainable political development in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He explained that the Forum’s primary objective is to mobilize grassroots support for the endorsement and re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term, to consolidate the administration’s achievements and advance the wellbeing of Nigerians.
According to the Chairman, the Forum also aims to provide mentorship, strategic guidance, and advocacy in support of the current administration’s reform initiatives. He noted that the visit was to brief the Minister on the Forum’s vision, seek his advice as the Grand Patron of the Forum and also based on his passion and unwavering commitment to the success of the Tinubu Administration.
In his response, the Honourable Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, commended the delegation for their foresight and dedication to national development. He described the establishment of the Forum as a laudable and timely initiative that would further strengthen political unity and continuity of good governance across the country.
He further urged the members to continue fostering unity, purposeful leadership, and constructive engagement that reflect the collective aspirations of the Northern region and Nigeria as a whole.
