The Federal Government of Nigeria through National Orientation Agency (NOA) has embarked on National values and campaigns against extreme graduation practices which do not align with our values.
This was announced by NOA Director General Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu who was represented by Director of Legal Matters, Mr Williams Fagu while briefing news men at Federal secretariat Dutse Jigawa state.
He explained that, the National Orientation Agency has many mandates, is the responsibility to sensitize the public on government policies, programmes and activities.
According to him, in recent times, the agency has expanded it’s messaging platforms to meet the diverse messaging platform requirement of the equally diverse audience demography.
Mr Fagu also announced federal government effort, through Presidential Flood Mitigation of the release of N3 billion to each state in the federation, including Jigawa in 2024.
He said , the funding aims to address the root causes of flooding, such as poor drainage systems and careless waste disposal.
According to him, NiMet’s advisories have a 90% accuracy rate, enabling communities to prepare for potential floods.
Fugu noted that several states, including Niger, Kogi, Rivers, Anambra, and Bayelsa, have suffered severe flood effects in recent years.
The NOA official urged the public to take heed of NiMet’s warnings and work together to prevent flooding.
By clearing drainage systems and avoiding waste dumping, residents can significantly reduce the risk of flooding in their communities.
Fagu then, said the Federal Government’s initiative is expected to bring relief to Jigawa State and other affected areas, minimizing the devastating impact of floods on lives and property.
