The 4th Governing Council of the Federal University Dutse at its Extraordinary Meeting held on 13th December, 2025 has approved the appointment of Professor Ahmed Muhammed Gumel as the 4th substantive Vice–Chancellor the university effective from 10th of February,2026.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Director Public Affairs of the University, Alhaji Abdullahi Yahaya Bello and made it available to news men.
The statement said, Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Shuaibu Oba Abdulraheem, OFR, NPOM, said the selection process followed a rigorous and meticulous process in which 21 applicants were shortlisted and interviewed at the of which Professor Gumel emerged as the New VC.
He congratulated the new VC and prayed to Allah to guide him in the discharge of his duties.
The Vice-Chancellor designate, Professor Gumel in his remark, thanked almighty Allah for his emergence as the new VC. He also extended his gratitude to the joint selection team, the Chairman of the Governing Council, incumbent VC and the entire council of the university for the confidence reposed in him adding that he will strive to do his best to build on the outstanding achievements of the current VC.
“Prof. Ahmad Mohammed Gumel is an Alumnus of University Malaya in Malaysia, where he received Master of Biotechnology and Ph.D in Industrial Biotechnology with specialization in Biocatalysis and Bioprocess Technology in 2009 and 2013, respectively. He was also a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Malaya, Malaysia in 2014.
“He also has a Professional Master Degree in Public Policy and Administration (MPPA), an Advance Diploma in Education, Diploma in Data Processing and Information Technology and Certificate in Advance Digital Appreciation Training (ADAPTI).
Professor Gumel, is an award winning Scholar whose PhD thesis got Distinction in University of Malaya.
