Gamai Nation Announces Preparations for BIT GAMAI 2025 Cultural Festival

The President of the apex cultural and development association of the Gamai Nation, Albert Alkali has announced preparations for the 2025 edition of Bit Gamai and the people’s annual cultural festival.

Addressing journalists, at the NUJ Press Centre in Jos, Alkali, gave glory to God for the opportunity to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Gamai people.

He noted that the Gamai are predominantly found in Shendam, Quan Pan and Langtang South Local Government Areas of Plateau State, as well as Awe and Lafia LGAs in Nasarawa State.

According to him with a population of about 1.1 million people, the Gamai Nation comprises major chiefdoms including Duut, Dorok, Derteng, Kwo, Jakhattoe, Namu (Japjan), Kwalla-Moeda and Abakwariga. Adding that the Gamai language remains their distinctive native dialect.

The president announced that Bit Gamai 2025 will hold on 31st December 2025 in Shendam, the headquarters of the Gamai Nation.

Albert disclosed that the festival’s planning committee which is chaired by Gamai elder statesman and retired Head of Service of Plateau State, Miskoom Camillus Tsemwan, will also decorate the Plateau State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Mrs Ayuku Pwaspo and other two members with the prestigious attire of Gamai at the occasion.

According to him, more than 20 traditional dances and a wide array of Gamai cuisines will be showcased at the event. Adding that Invitations will be extended to top government officials, business leaders, Gamai sons and daughters in the diaspora, PIDAN, traditional rulers, ethnic nationalities in Plateau State, tourists, and the media.

Alkali, assured that the 2025 edition of Bit Gamai will be a cultural celebration to remember.
