The Jigawa state Governor, Malam Umar Namadi has assured equal treatment to over 66,000 Decampees whom dumped their opposition parties and joined the All Progressive Congress (APC) in jigawa state.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on media Hajiya Zainab Shu’aibu Rabo and made it available to news men.
Governor Namadi on Saturday together with National and state leaders of the party under leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who was represented by Yobe state Governor Mai Mala Buni, received the opposition members at Dutse Stadium in Jigawa.
The Governor said, the Decampees were convinced with his laudable achievements and transparency to all citizens in the state, assured that more dividends of democracy is coming to Jigawa under the visionary leadership of President Tinubu.
He said the Decampees came from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and other opposition parties.
While making his remarks, President Tinubu represented by Yobe state Governor, Mai Mala Buni said, federal government is committed towards improving economic and infrastructural development as well as unity of the country.
He then welcomed the defectors and promised equal treatment through renewed Hope Agenda for better Nigeria to all citizens.
Some of the dignitaries present were the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda; Governor of Yobe State and former APC National Chairman, Mai Mala Buni; Deputy Governors of Katsina and Sokoto States; Alhaji Ibrahim Masari, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Matters; members of the National Assembly, and several other prominent figures.
Also speaking at the gathering, the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, welcomed the defectors and called for loyalty and unity among party members saying that the mass defection demonstrates the people’s growing trust in the APC-led governments both at the national and state levels.
