The Jigawa state Governor Malam Umar A Namadi has presented the proposed Budget of Nine Hundred and One billion, Eight Hundredand and forty one million Naira (N901,841,000,000) to Jigawa state house of Assembly of the 2026 fiscal year.
The 2026 budget which was tagged “Budget of Innovation and Transformation for Greater Jigawa II” is aimed to meet 12 points agenda of the present administration in the state.
The governor also presented the total sum of N288,848,892,051 as estimated 2026 budget for 27 local governments.
According to him, almost 77% of the entire budget—about N693.4 billion—is devoted to capital investments, consistent with strategic priorities in critical infrastructure, agricultural transformation, human capital development, and empowerment of youth and women.
He maintained that, the education and health sectors constitute over one-third of the budget, with education alone taking more than 26%, surpassing the recommended benchmark for the sector.
Governor Namadi added that, for the major expenditure components ,the breakdown of the proposed N901.81 stand at Personnel Cost(All MDAs and LEAs)120,048,000,000 equivalent to 13.3%, Contingency and Stablization Funds 7,000,000,0000 equivalent to 8% while Capital Expenditure Investments 693,403,000,00076 taking 9%, Public Debt Charges 5,720,000,000 0.6% while Overheads and Other Recurrent Cost stands at 75,670,000,000. 8.4%.
According to him, the recurrent expenditure Personnel Cost: N… (approx. 13.3%)
Overheads: N81.4 billion (about 9%)
Contingency: N8.1 billion
Personnel costs include LEA and PHC staff salaries, civil servant vehicle loans, utilities, scholarships, debt charges, examinations, and operations of MDAs.
He said, in capital investment programs, Agriculture & Livestock Development – N75 Billion,Power Sector Development – N50.7 Billion,Major Road Projects, other Key Sectors Water Supply & Sanitation – N12.3billion, Land, Housing, Urban Development & Regional Planning –N25.4billion, Environment Protection & Climate Resilience – N35.4billion, Health N27.2billion, PHC Development Agency – N20.1billion, Education (Tertiary) – N38.6billion, Information, Youth, Culture & Sports – N2.8billion, Law & Justice – N5.9billion,Local Governance & Community Development – N2.3billion.
While responding to the presentation, the speaker Jigawa state house of Assembly, Honourable Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin assured speedy passage of the budget.
He then commended governor Namadi for his commitments towards improving the life of Jigawa citizens.
