As part of fulfillment of his campaign promises, the Jigawa state governor Malam Umar Namadi, has reconnects 104 communities with electricity power after sixteen years in darkness.
The flag-off of the project, took place during the Jigawa state government and Citizens engagement held over the weekend at Taura local governments area.
Governor Namadi explained that the state government convinced to reconnects the communities with electricity looking at tremendous benefit attach to the life of citizens in the communities and the state at large.
He identified some socio-economic and agricultural benefits attach to reconnection of electricity power adding that, electrification of rural and urban communities is part of his administration agenda.
The governor then, urged the benefiting residents to develop ownership habits on government properties, for proper monitoring and utilization of the project and to avoid vandalism.
While expressing the happiness and gratitude to the governor, the residents of Taura and Kwalam communities described the effort as historic moment for the benefitted communities.
The communities have been in total blackout for over sixteen years the situation that has crippled small businesses, increased the cost of living, and limited access to essential services such as potable water, healthcare among others.

Also speaking at the event, the State Commissioner of power and Energy Engr. Surajo A Musa said, state Government has invested heavily in rehabilitating old lines, replacing damaged transformers, and upgrading distribution networks to ensure stable and sustainable electricity in the affected communities.
