The Councillor representing Herwagana Ward in Gombe Local Government Area of Gombe State, Alhaji Musa Garba, has spent over ₦3 million to provide Sallah support to residents of the community ahead of the forthcoming Eid celebration.
The support, which benefited more than 40 people, included imams, muezzins, widows, women and youths within the ward.
As part of the gesture, the mosque clerics received luxury gowns, while widows, young women and other residents were given wrappers and shadda fabrics to enable them celebrate the Sallah festival.
Garba also extended cash assistance to some youths who are active in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the ward. While some beneficiaries received ₦100,000 each, others were given ₦50,000.
In addition, the councillor donated prayer mats to several mosques within the community to improve facilities used for worship.
Speaking during the distribution, Garba said the initiative was aimed at appreciating the people of the ward for the trust and confidence they reposed in him by electing him to represent them.
He added that the gesture was also his way of giving back to the community and appreciating residents for their continued prayers and support.
The Chairman of Gombe Local Government Area, Barrister Sani Ahmad Haruna, commended the councillor for the initiative, saying such acts of generosity help strengthen unity and cooperation among residents.
Haruna noted that Garba had sustained the gesture over the years, particularly during the Sallah season.
Some beneficiaries also expressed gratitude for the support, noting that the assistance would help them prepare for the upcoming Sallah celebration. They described the councillor as a leader committed to the welfare of his constituents.
