Jigawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency (JSPHCDA), with support from the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), and development partners, concluded an arrangement to Commences Measles-Rubella Vaccination on 6th October, 2025.
This was announced at a two-day state-level training organized by the SPHDA, NPHDA and other partners, in preparation for Integrated MR Vaccination Campaign.
In a statement signed by the Social Media Focal Person of the Agency Ya’u Muhammed Sani said, the training aimed at equipping participants with the necessary knowledge and skills for effective implementation of the campaign in each LGA where they work respectively.
The statement said , during the training, the Director of Primary Health Care, Alhaji Hassan Shuaibu Kwalam, urged the participants to remain committed, dedicated, and result-oriented in ensuring the success of the forthcoming campaign in their respective LGAs.
The training also focused on Monitoring and Evaluation, implementation in security-compromised settlements, the use of GIS, cold chain and logistics, demand promotion, data management, and coordination for the Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccine switch.
The participants are expected to hold planning meetings in their respective LGAs today, Friday 26th September, and cascade the training to the lower levels to ensure proper preparedness ahead of the campaign.
“The Measles-Rubella (MR) Vaccination Campaign will officially kick off on the 6th of October 2025 and will last for ten days across all 27 LGAs of Jigawa State. The campaign will target children aged 9 months to 14 years for MR vaccination, while children aged 0 to 59 months will benefit from other integrated interventions”.
The statement then, urged parents and caregivers to present their eligible children at the designated vaccination posts during the campaign to ensure they are protected against measles, rubella, and other childhood diseases.
Speaking ahead of the campaign, the Executive Secretary of JSPHCDA, Dr. Shehu Sambo, reaffirmed the state’s commitment to safeguarding child health:
“This campaign is a vital step toward eliminating measles and rubella in Jigawa State. We call on all parents and caregivers to take full advantage of this opportunity by bringing their eligible children for vaccination. Together, we can protect our children and secure a healthier future for our communities.”
