Jigawa Govt Moves to integrates Tsangaya into formal education

Jigawa State Government on Saturday said it’s constructing three modern mega Tsangaya schools as part of proactive approach to integrate traditional Qur’anic education into the formal school system. 

The state governor, Mallam Umar Namadi made the announcement at the opening ceremony of the 2025 Sheikh Ali Alhuzaifiy Qur’an ’an Award National Qur’anic Recitation Competition in Dutse, the capital city of Jigawa state.

A press statement by Zainab Rabo, the Senior Special Assistant Media Affairs to the governor, said the annual event was  initiated by the Sheikh Ali Huzaifiy Foundation in honour of the Chief Imam of the Madinah Mosque.

The statement said Governor Umar Namadi reiterated his commitment  to promoting Islamic education and values through Qur’anic studies, also enjoined citizens to prioritize reading the Quran that serve as the ultimate solution to all problems.

Governor Namadi disclosed that Jigawa  Tsangaya program is envisaged to combine vocational training to equip young ones with both Quranic knowledge and vocational opportunities. 

This initiative, he said, is aimed at empowering the youths with skills that will enable them to become self-reliant and contribute positively to society.

The Governor noted that the state provides budgetary support for Tsangaya to promote Quranic competitions and recitation. 

The statement quoted the excutive secretary  of islamic eduacion Bureau during the opening said “Over eighty participant of Jigawa origin at various Quranic competion around the globe who excellled and won have been sponsor by the state govt to study at various instition of learning in the world some of the have obtain PHD and degree in diffent fields”

The statement said The 2025 edition, holding in Dutse, Jigawa State, marks the third in the series, following previous editions hosted in Adamawa State.
