Jigawa OGP elects New Leaders, as Isah Mustapha emerges Co-Chair

In what appeared to be a new chapter in the development of Jigawa state, the Jigawa state Open Government Partnership (OGP) steering committee elected new leadership with Comrade Isah Mustapha as new Co-Chair representing non state actors.

The new leadership emerged after the conduct of election at the two-day retreat held at Bafra Hotel in Kaduna state 

In a statement singed from the Jigawa OGP secretariat and made it available to news men by Mohammed Wada said, the retreat Charts New Course for Transparency and Global Recognition of OGP.

According to the statement, during the retreat Jigawa OGP renews Open Government Commitment, Elects New NSA Co-Chair Over 70% SAP Milestones Achieved and Set up Roadmap for Global Visibility

“The Jigawa State Open Government Partnership (OGP) Steering Committee has renewed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement following a two-day retreat in Kaduna. 

“The event, held at Bafra International Hotel, brought together 36 participants, including commissioners, senior government officials, civil society leaders, and representatives of the OGP Secretariat.

During the retreat, participants reviewed the implementation of the State Action Plan (SAP), noting that Jigawa has achieved over 70 percent of its commitments, while the gaps were identified as a major obstacle limiting national and global recognition. 

The statement added that, the Steering Committee resolved to fully activate the OGP Secretariat within the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, establish an official website and digital platforms, and develop a more inclusive SAP III with co-financing opportunities from civil society and partners.

Meanwhile , Mr. Isah Mustapha, Executive Director of ELIP-Initiative,was elected, as the new Co-Chair representing Non-State Actors. 

Mr Mustapha in his acceptance speech, he pledged to uphold the values of transparency and inclusiveness, stating: 

“Together, we will drive open government reforms, foster collaboration, and ensure OGP delivers real impact for the people of Jigawa.” With renewed energy and stronger collaboration between government and civil society, Jigawa is now set to enhance its visibility and secure global registration under the OGP framework.
