The Jigawa Open Government Partnership OGP steering committee has designed a strategic work plan (SAP III) to address challenges in service delivery for better development of the state.
The work plan was developed and adopted during a two day workshop on review and update of Jigawa State Open Government Partnership (OGP) State Action Plan III Organized Jigawa OGP with support from State government and UKaid Partnership for Agile Governance and Climate Engagement (PACE), held at Bafra International Hotel in Kaduna.
While shading more light, Comrade Isah Mustapha the Co-chair (Non State Actors) said, the State Action Plan III contained five Thematic areas of concerns that needs to be improve and address challenges bedeviling the sectors.
Comrade Isah Mustapha, identified the Thematic areas as Fiscal Transparency and Accountability, Anti-corruption, Access to Justice, Climate Action and service delivery.
He said, on Climate Action, after a long deliberations by the steering committee agreed to work in team to ensure integration of climate resilience, adoption of renewable energy and sustainable financing into state planning and implementation frameworks to address flooding, drought and other climate challenges.
According to him, Fiscal Transparency and Accountability thematic area, will increase citizens access and participation in budget and procurement process for effective and efficient delivery of projects and services in Health, Education, Agriculture, Livestocks, Water Resources and Works and transportation sectors.
He maintained that, other thematic area is Anti-corruption aimed at strengthen Institution mechanism and initiatives to promote an effective Anti-corruption drive to enhance integrity, transparency, and Accountability across MDAs.
Other thematic area is Acces to Justice; aimed at ensuring timely prosecution and adjudication of GBV cases through coordinated institutional mechanism as well as to reduce case delays and enhance efficiency in civil justice delivery.
Comrade Isah added that, the last thematic area is service delivery aimed to improve transparency, accountability and inclusiveness of economic Empowerment and social protection services.
While delivering his speech, the CSOs adviser from OGP National Secretariat Phillips Mustapha Ahmed commended the team for a well done work and urged the committee to ensure the implementation of Jigawa OGP SAP III for better Jigawa State.
