The residents of Kafin Soli town of Kankia local government area in Katsina state have registered their dismay over the brutal killing of their son, Usman Musa allegedly by members of Katsina Community Watch for reasons best known to them.
Katsina Community Watch popularly refered to as ‘Katsina C-Watch, a local non state actors security outfit floated by the Katsina state government to compliment the efforts of conventional in tackling the banditry, kidnappings and other security concerns in the state where some local councils have been overrunned by dreaded activities.
Investigation by this Correspondent revealed that, on the fateful day of Saturday, 11th October 2025, a tragic and deeply disturbing incident occurred that shaken the community of Kafinsoli and beyond as Usman Kafinsoli, a law-abiding citizen, was brutally murdered in cold blood by suspected members of the Katsina C-Watch group.
Reports further shown that, Usman was on a moral obligation accompanying his biological mother to a nearby village along the Kafinsoli–Radda road, where she went for condolences to her own relatives who loss a family member.But Usman was accosted and arrested unlawfully believed to be members of the local vigilante outfit manning the area.
While taken away the deceased (Usman) the group who claimed to represent the security vigilante outfit known as Katsina C-Watch branched to refill their motor cycle petrol tank where many villagers saw him (Usman) in their custody before whiskening away and tragically never come back alive.
A resident who spoke in ananimousity said that the captors allegedly took Usman to a secluded location around Rimaye town in Kankia local Government Area, where they allegedly slaughtered him to death in a horrifying act of extra-judicial killing.
“This unlawful act is not only a gross violation of Usman’s fundamental human rights, but also a direct affront to the rule of law and the principles of justice that govern our society. No individual or group has the right to apprehend, detain, and summarily execute a citizen without due process a cornerstone of any democratic and lawful society”. The source advanced.
However, the situation informed a serious tension in Kafin Soli where aggrieved youths blocked all the high ways heading to Dutsi-Ma, Matazu, Kankia and Charanchi burning expired tyres on the road which the Katsina Community Watch group tried to stopped but were overpowered. A situation that forced them shot three youth on their legs before escaping to safety.
Some concerned citizens have written a petition on the matter to constituted authorities including : the Katsina State Government,the Nigerian Police Force, and the Human Rights Commission calling for a thorough, transparent, and impartial investigation into this heinous crime, identify all perpetrators involved, and bring them to justice without delay.
