As part of effort to support Jigawa state government on reducing maternal child deaths, the Nutrition International (NI) in collaboration with Jigawa state Primary Healthcare Development Agency (SPHCDA) has trained 240 health workers (Ante-Natal Care Service providers) on Multiple Micronutrients (MMs) supplement in the state.
The training that, took place in four clusters (Hadejia, Dutse, Gumel and Kazaure aimed to boost the knowledge of ANC service Providers across the State.
Speaking during the two day training, the Kazaure PHC Manager Alhaji Kabiru Ahmed Gumel said, the purposes is to reduce maternal child deaths by equipping the participants with knowledge and skills on the importance as well as how to properly use Multiple Micronutrients for pregnant women.
The PHC Manager also advised men to support their women particularly the pregnant women to adopt habit of taking the MMS supplements for the betterment of themselves and their children.
One of the facilitator of the training Hajiya Aliya who urged the participants to concentrate and step down the importance of Ante-Natal Care attendance and MMS Supplementation to ANC attendants.
While delivering his remarks, the country Director Dr Osita who was represented by Senior Program Officer, Ayodele Gbemileke said, Nutrition International (NI) is supporting Jigawa state to improve Nutrition and reduce maternal child deaths for many years.
The senior program officer, who expressed redness of NI to continue collaboration with Jigawa state on promoting Ante-Natal Care and increase MMS Supplementation among pregnant women and children, urged the participants to extend the knowledge to their respective ANC attendants.
She then urged the participants to concentrate on the training and appreciated the state government’s commitment towards smooth running of the project.
Also speaking the state Nutrition Officer Muhammed Abdullahi commended Nutrition International for supporting Jigawa state, and charged the participants to utilize the knowledge acquired during the training appropriately.
