The Civil Society Coalition on Peace, Security, and Conflict Resolution (CCSPCR) heartily extends its New Year 2026 greetings to the government and the good people of Jigawa State.
This was contained in a statement signed by Maryam Ibrahim, the communication and Strategy Officer Of the coalition and made it available to news men.
“On behalf of the Coalition, the Chairman, Comrade Musbahu Basirka, conveys profound appreciation to the people of Jigawa for their resilience, peaceful disposition, and sustained commitment to the cherished “Great Mallamadori” legacy of hospitality, tolerance, and communal harmony. These values continue to distinguish Jigawa State as a beacon of peace within the North-West region.
“As we step into the year 2026, the CCSPCR reaffirms its unwavering commitment to supporting a safer, more cohesive, and development-driven Jigawa State. Our strategic focus for the year ahead is anchored on the following priorities:
While speaking on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE), the statement said, the Coalition will intensify community-led and preventive approaches to security. By addressing the root causes of radicalisation, promoting inclusive dialogue, and strengthening local resilience mechanisms, we aim to protect communities from extremist influences and emerging security threats.
The coalition also assured Strengthening Peacebuilding and Social Cohesion through Peace is not accidental; it is built through deliberate engagement. CCSPCR will continue to foster dialogue across social, ethnic, and religious divides, ensuring that diversity remains a source of strength rather than division.
The statement added that, on Promoting Dispute Resolution and Conflict Prevention, the Coalition will continue to promote the use of traditional, religious, and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms to address community disputes—particularly those related to land, resources, and communal relations in a fair, inclusive, and peaceful manner.
The CCSPCR, expressed special appreciation to the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) for its strategic guidance, technical support, and sustained encouragement, which have helped align community-level initiatives with national security priorities.
“We also extend sincere gratitude to the Jigawa State Government for its proactive leadership, political will, and consistent support. The enabling environment provided by the government has allowed peace and security initiatives to reach communities across all 27 Local Government Areas of the state” he said.
The statement then Call for Collective Responsibility, as Nigerians usher in the New Year, the Coalition calls on all residents of Jigawa State to remain vigilant, embrace dialogue, and uphold the values of peaceful coexistence. Security is a collective duty—every citizen has a role to play by being their brother’s keeper, reporting suspicious activities through appropriate channels, and choosing dialogue over confrontation.
The Chairman, Comrade Musbahu Basirka also said, CCSPCR remains resolute in its mission to work with government, security agencies, traditional and religious leaders, women, youth, and civil society actors to consolidate peace and stability.
