A committee set up by the Katsina State Government to review and reform the state’s pension law has submitted a new pension law, which is set to take effect in 2026.
The Chairman of the Committee, Farouk Aminu confirmed this during a press briefing in Katsina, stating that the new pension law introduces significant reforms aimed at ensuring lasting peace of mind for civil servants after retirement.
According to the Chairman, the law had already passed all required legislative procedures in the State House of Assembly and other necessary stages,
“Its primary focus will be to ensure that every retired worker in the state and local governments receives their gratuity and begins receiving their pension promptly”, he added.
Aminu further noted that the state government has already established new agencies that will be responsible for efficiently managing the affairs of retirees at both state and local government levels, ensuring a smooth process without difficulties.
He emphasized that all the reforms introduced by the new pension law are designed to provide dignity, care, and stability for workers after years of service to the state and the nation.
The Chairman of the Committee commended the State Governor, Malam Dikko Radda for his dedication to clearing outstanding entitlements owed to retired workers before implementing the new pension law.
