The Gombe State Police Command has announced activities to mark the 2026 National Police Day, with a focus on strengthening public trust and community partnership.
Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, who spoke at a press briefing on Friday, said the celebration, themed “Community Partnership: Building Trust,” is aimed at boosting public confidence and promoting shared responsibility for security.
He said the programme, in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, will begin on March 30 with a sanitation exercise and medical outreach at the Gombe Emir’s Palace.
According to him, other activities include a walkathon on March 31, public sensitisation on electoral violence and road safety on April 1 at the Federal College of Education (Technical), and presentation of cheques to families of fallen officers on April 2.
Chuso said the grand finale will hold on April 7 at the Eagle Square in Abuja.
He urged residents and stakeholders to participate, stressing that effective policing depends on public support.
