No fewer than, 2,000 dropout of school girls are enrolled back to school by Society for Women Development and Empowerment of Nigeria (SWODEN) in Birnin Kudu local government area of Jigawa State.
This was announced by the Chief Executive Officer of SWODEN Hajiya Maimuna Yakubu Muhammad while delivering her remarks during a one day stakeholders engagement held at Haitel Hotel Dutse.
She explained that, the project is implemented by SWODEN with support From Government of Ireland through Irish Embassy in Nigeria aimed to improve living standard of women, Girls and young people.
According to her, the purpose of the workshop is to bring together key stakeholders, including community leaders,women forums, religious leaders,LGA authorities, state actors, CBOs and other partners to discuss Economic Empowerment for Women and Out-of-School Girls as well as to End Gender-Based Violence in Birnin Kudu Local government.
“We succeeded in bringing back 2,000 out of school girls in Birnin Kudu local government area, from September 2025 to date. Now we will concentrate on supporting them with educational materials like books, school’s Shoes, bags among others”.
The executive director added that, SWODEN is also committed to fight against Gender Base Violences (GBV)” SWODEN is also working to create awareness on GBV prevention measures and if the Right of a girl is violated to know how to report to police, court and ensure the suspects are punish”.
Hajiya Maimuna added that, as part of SWODEN adolescent girls Empowerment, the skills acquisition training of women and girls on smart agriculture will soon commence.
She then commended the stakeholders for their concerns and urged them to mainstream the efforts into state’s policies for Sustainability and safety and betterment of adolescent girls in Jigawa state.
