Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE, working alongside local vigilante groups, have neutralized several terrorists and recovered weapons during coordinated clearance operations in Plateau State.
The operation, carried out under the ongoing offensive codenamed Operation WUTAN DAJI, targeted criminal elements operating in Daba and Seri villages across Wase and Kanam Local Government Areas.
According to military sources, the troops, at about 8:30 a.m. on April 9, 2026, established strategic blocking positions between Dutsen Zaki and the Odare Forest, identified as a key transit corridor for groups. During the operation, a large number of armed terrorists on motorcycles were sighted moving along the route and were immediately engaged.
The troops responded with coordinated and superior firepower, overwhelming the террористs despite initial resistance. At least 10 of the assailants were neutralized, while others fled into nearby forests with injuries.
In a related development, troops responded swiftly to reports of an attack on commuters along the Razat–Kafi Abu axis. Upon contact with security forces, the perpetrators retreated into surrounding areas, prompting an aggressive pursuit.
Security forces subsequently launched cordon-and-search operations across Suma Suga and Takwok villages, extending into adjoining mountainous terrain. The operation led to the recovery of several items abandoned by the fleeing criminals.
Recovered items include three AK-47 rifles, three magazines, eight rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, two motorcycles, and five 25-litre jerrycans filled with Premium Motor Spirit believed to be intended for террорист logistics. Troops also recovered a National Identity Card and a photograph linked to suspected members of the group, which are expected to aid ongoing investigations.
Military authorities described the operation as a major success in degrading the operational capacity of armed groups in the area. Troops have remained on high alert and are continuing efforts to track down fleeing suspects and their collaborators.
Operation ENDURING PEACE, the military said, will sustain intensified clearance operations across identified flashpoints to ensure the protection of lives and property in Plateau State.
