The Katsina State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Malik Anas, has presented a detailed breakdown of the ₦897.8 billion 2026 budget proposal which was presented to the state assembly by the state Governor, Dikko Umar Radda on tuesday
The 2026 budget estimate was taggged “Building Your Future III.”
Malik Anas made the presentation during a press briefing on Tuesday at the Press Centre, Government House, Katsina.
According to the commissioner, the state Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda has earmarked ₦730.1 billion for capital expenditure, representing 81.32 percent, while ₦167.7 billion is set aside for recurrent expenditure, accounting for 18.68 percent of the total.
He said the budget focuses on six key sectors, which together account for 60 percent of the total allocation, disclosing the sectors as, Education which carries ₦156.3 billón,
Works and Housing to gulf ₦117.1 billón,
Agriculture to spend ₦78.6 billón while Water Resources and
Health sectors are to gulf ₦67.5 billion ₦62.8 billón while
Environment Ministry has earmarked ₦53.8 billion .
Alhaji Anas explained that the budget was developed through an inclusive process that incorporated the views of 71,384 citizens during town hall meetings and 6,649 households across the 361 political wards of the 34 local government areas in the state.
He noted that the participatory approach reflects Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s commitment to inclusive governance and evidence-based planning aimed at driving infrastructure renewal, human capital development, and economic empowerment across Katsina State.
