The Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has commissioned a Digital Learning Center established by the Katsina Local Government Authority under the leadership of the Local Government Chairman, Hon. Isah Miqdad AD Saude.
The governor who commissioned the facility in Katsina described the center as a vital investment in community development and a means of integrating citizens into the digital economy.
Dikko Radda stated that the center aligns with the Digital Economy Policy of Katsina State and strengthens his administration’s commitment to expanding access to technology, education, and innovation at the grassroots level.
“The center was established to promote digital literacy, train youths in information and communication technology (ICT), enhance entrepreneurial skills, and serve as a modern venue for computer-based tests (CBT) such as JAMB and WAEC. It is expected to boost skills, improve job opportunities, and promote innovation among youth, women, and the wider community”, he added.
The Chairman of Katsina State ICT Directorate, Naufal Ahmad, highlighted the state’s remarkable progress in advancing digital infrastructure, including the installation of 27 kilometers of fiber optics around Katsina city, implementation of e-governance, ICT training for citizens, and provision of computers to government officials. He confirmed that the new center would further reinforce the state’s drive toward a tech-driven government.
A representative of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Dr. Bashir Ibrahim, stated that the center supports the Federal Government’s vision to achieve 70% digital literacy in Nigeria by 2030, emphasizing the critical role of local government-level digital centers in realizing this goal.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Katsina Local Government, Hon. Isah Miqdad AD Saude, described the project as a long-term investment, prioritizing initiatives that bring lasting benefits in education and job creation.
He added that “the center reflects the autonomy granted by Governor Radda to local governments, empowering them to execute people-oriented projects directly”.
“The Digital Learning Center is expected to benefit thousands of citizens, create employment, and contribute to sustainable development in Katsina State as a whole”, Miqdad concluded.
