The Deputy Director General (North) of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), Hon. (Engr.) Magaji Da’u Aliyu, has received two honorary awards in recognition of his outstanding contributions to community development and selfless service.
Magaji Da’u who is also a former Lawmaker representing Birnin Kudu/Buji federal constituency, conferred with awards by the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) and the Centre for Qur’anic Promotion and Reciters held at Birnin Kudu local Government Area of Jigawa State.
Responding after receiving the award, Engineer Magaji expressed gratitude to the union, describing the recognition as a morale booster to do more for society.
“I am sincerely grateful for this honour. What we are doing is simply our modest contribution to development and the upliftment of our people, which we consider a responsibility,” he said.
The former Lawmaker who also serves as Deputy Director General (North) of the TSG, commended Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, for prioritising education through improved funding, timely release of resources, and strategic investments in manpower and infrastructure across both Universal Basic Education and tertiary institutions.
Earlier, the Chairman of NUT in Birnin Kudu, Alhaji Musa Muhammad, said the award ceremony was organised to recognise individuals and organisations that have made remarkable contributions to education through financial and material support.
He disclosed that the local NUT branch had facilitated degree programmes under the National Teachers Institute (NTI) and supported the establishment of the College of Education, Gumel Campus, for the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programme.
Muhammad noted that Hon. Magaji Da’u Aliyu was selected strictly on merit, citing his consistent support for teaching and learning, teachers’ welfare, and youth development, including sponsoring students to colleges of education to obtain NCE qualifications.
In his remarks, the District Head of Birnin Kudu, Alhaji Husain Hassan Jibrin, urged the NUT to strengthen monitoring and inspection mechanisms to ensure regular school attendance as part of efforts to raise educational standards.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Muryar Birnin Kudu, Alhaji Ahmad Sa’id Kangire, announced that the association would soon inaugurate a committee to oversee the transparent disbursement of educational donations made during its Annual General Meeting to address pressing educational needs in the community.
Meanwhile the Centre for Qur’anic Promotion and Reciters said the Engr. Magaji Da’u ward of honor followed his commitment in constructions of Islamiyya Schools and Mosques in many parts of the state and country as Hall.
The chairman of Centre for Qur’anic Promotion and Reciters, Sheik Gwani Yusif Hamza Yusif said “people like Dr. (Engr) Magaji Da’u Aliyu in terms of rendering supports to Islam and Muslims are very few. A parts from construction of Islamiyya Schools and Mosques, he also providing teaching and learning materials in the schools. May God Almighty bless his wealth and protect him any he is”.
