Professor Gumel Assumes Office As 4th FUD VC, Vows to Promote Academic Excellence

Professor Ahmad Muhammed Gumel on Tuesday assumed office as newly elected Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Dutse (FUD).

The Vice Chancellor who promised to promote academic excellence in the University come-up with 11-points strategic Development plan as roadmap of running his five years tenure.

While delivering his acceptance speech as 4th substantive Vice-Chancellor held on Thursday at the Nuhu Muhammad Sanusi Auditorium, the new Vice Chancellor seek support From the entire members of the University to move forward.

“Our mission is to cultivate an environment of academic rigor, knowledge development, and the free exchange of ideas, and produced that are highly employable and recognised for their creativity and dedication to service,” he said.

The Vice Chancellor unveiled 11 points strategic plan, saying that, the plan will soon be presented to the University Governing Council for approval.

” To achieve these 11-points strategic Development Plan would be implemented, including, Academic Excellence, Research and Innovation, Digital Transformation, students welfare and empowerment, staff welfare and Development, Infrastructure Expansion. 

Professor Gumel added that, the remaining strategic points plan are Financial stability, Global partnership, University and Community Engagement, Governance and Accountability as well as Environmental stewardship.

Meanwhile , the newly Vice Chancellor commended  4th Governing Council,  for the confidence reposed on him promising to justify the confidence reposed on him.

He also expressed his appreciation to the Governor of Jigawa State Umar Namadi and his predecessor Abdulkarim Sabo Muhammad for their support.

Professor, Gumel also solicited the cooperation of the staff of the University to achieve the set objectives.

Professor Gumel, is a biotechnology scholar,  He holds a Master’s degree and PhD from the University of Malaya, Malaysia, and has over 45 academic publications, four books, and two international patents. 

He served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Central Administration) and has pledged to strengthen academic excellence, research, and governance at the university.
