The High Court of Justice sitting in Hadejia Jigawa State, has issued an Interim injunction restraining parties from claiming ownership, selling or carrying out any development on a disputed piece of Land in Hadejia, Jigawa State.
The order was contained in a letter signed by Registrar of the court dated February 25,2026.
According to the document, the order was granted in suit No.JDU/003/2026 between Alhaji Abdullahi Abubakar and Two (2) other’s as Claimant’s and the Jigawa State Govt with Four (4) other’s as Defendant’s.
The Presiding Judge gave the directive after hearing counsel to the Claimants on a motion exparte Dated February 9th,2026, and filed on the same day.
The court order that both the Claimants and Defendants, either by themselves or through their representative’s must refrain from claiming ownership of the land, selling it or carrying out any form of development on it pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
The affected properties include *Plots C 7,C 8,C 9,C10 and C 20* located in Hadejia Jama’are extension covered by a Letter of Grand under Right of occupancy No.JGLN/COM/2022/36 Dated April 1st,2022, and supported by certificate of occupancy.
Speaking on the development,a private legal practitioner, Barrister Garba Abubakar, who is also a former Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association Jigawa State Branch said the court order was issued in line with orders 38 and 39 of the Jigawa State High Court civil procedure Rules.
He said any *attempt* to deal with the Land in violation of the court order could lead to committal proceedings for contempt of court* against any one involved, regardless of their status.
