Jigawa Lactating Mothers Distance Self from Diversion of RUTF To Market

The lactating mothers in Jigawa state have distance themselves from Allege diversion of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) to shop or markets in the state.

This was announced by the attendants of MASAKI site when the team from State Primary HealthCare paid a visit to witness the Nutrition food demonstration and distribution of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food RUTF held on Wednesday across the centres in the state.

Speaking to news men at Kandi MASAKI site in Kude Ward, Dutse local government, the lactating mothers who described the RUTF as Child’s life saving food, explained that, in their centre no single mother is selling it out to market.

“We tested RUTF on our malnourished children and observed how it improves their life within few weeks, how can we sell it while we know the role it playing in saving the lives of our children.

The attendants maintained that “We loves our children more than any amount of money, and we don’t think there is any serious mother that can sacrifice the life of her child to any amount of money, this is impossible in this Kandi communities”.

According to them, lactating mothers are fully aware about huge amount spent by United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in collaboration with Jigawa State government to purchased RUTF worth hundreds millions just improve and save their children from severe acute malnutrition and stunting risks.

The lactating mothers then commended governor Malam Umar Namadi for timely released of the counterpart fund to UNICEF for the procurement of RUTF, promised to continue cooperation with state government for better life of Jigawa children.
