The faction of African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Jigawa state has rejected the newly elected executives and described the Congress as illegal and unconstitutional.

The factional chairman of the party, Hon. Kabiru Husaini Narumbu, stated this, while briefing news men adding that, those who conducted the congress lacked the authority to do so.

He said, “The said congress is illegal, and the executives produced are illegitimate.”

Narumbu explained that the party had earlier announced the postponement of the state congress and duly notified all relevant stakeholders, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies.

He added that no new date had been fixed for the exercise, insisting that the party remained committed to due process.

According to him, “The party had earlier communicated the shift of the congress to all stakeholders. As it stands, no date has been agreed upon or fixed for the conduct of the congress.”

The chairman further disclosed that the State Executive Committee had adopted a consensus arrangement for all congresses before the indefinite postponement.

“After extensive consultations, the State Executive Committee unanimously adopted the consensus model for all congresses in the state. However, due to certain issues affecting the party, the congresses were postponed indefinitely, and a new date will be communicated in due course,” he said.

Narumbu noted that copies of the notification were forwarded to critical stakeholders, including the Commissioner of Police, the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), and the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Others, he said, include prominent party stakeholders such as Ahmad Mahmoud Gumel, Rt. Hon. Bashir Adamu Kazaure, Senator Sabo Mohammed Nakudu, Mallam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim, and Senator Ubali Shitu Magama, as well as all the 27 local government chairmen and ward executives.

He added that the correspondence was equally copied to the ADC National Secretariat.

The faction maintained that the postponement of the congress was necessitated by the lingering leadership crisis at the national level and ongoing litigation involving factions led by David Mark and Nafi’u Bala.

Narumbu explained that, in a bid to resolve the crisis, the forum of state chairmen intervened by dissolving the two factions and constituting a caretaker committee for the stability of the party.

He, however, accused those behind the disputed congress of acting outside party structures.

“Those who conducted the congress are a few individuals who neither notified nor involved the party caucus. What they held was merely a gathering without legitimacy,” he said.

Reiterating the position of the faction, Narumbu urged party members and the general public to disregard the outcome of the congress.

“The congress is illegal, and the executives produced are illegitimate. Members and supporters should ignore them and remain committed to the progress and success of the party,” he stated.

He stressed that the ADC remains focused on producing credible candidates capable of unseating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Narumbu also called on aggrieved members to set aside personal interests and unite for the common good of the party and the country.

“Our actions are in the interest of the party and Nigerians. We urge those concerned to drop their selfish interests and join the legitimate structure to achieve our collective goals,” he said.

All efforts to speak with the other factional group to prove abortive as non of the new executive members produced in the congress couldn’t be reach.

Also contacted one of the ADC chieftain in the state and member of the ADC registration and revalidation committee who said to be around during the state congress, Hon Abba Anas Adamu did not succeeded as all calls put on his phone was not answered.
