Worker’s Day : FG Declares Friday  Work Free Day

Federal Government has declared Friday a public holiday to mark the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration.

This was announced by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government, according to a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.

He praised Nigerian workers for their commitment and contributions to national development, noting that their efforts remain vital to the country’s progress and prosperity.

The minister urged workers to uphold values such as patriotism, diligence and dedication, describing them as key drivers of sustainable development.

Tunji-Ojo also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving workers’ welfare and ensuring a conducive environment for economic growth.

He called on workers to use the occasion to reflect on the importance of unity and hard work in building the nation, while extending his best wishes for a peaceful Workers’ Day celebration on May 1, 2026.
