The enrollment exercise for the fifth batch of the Jigawa Maternal and Childcare Cash Transfer Programme (JMCCTP) has commenced across the 27 Local Government Areas of Jigawa State, targeting pregnant women and lactating mothers.
Speaking during a supervisors’ meeting held at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Dutse New Secretariat Complex, the Executive Secretary of the Jigawa State Rehabilitation Board, Alhaji Sale Zakar, commended Governor Malam Umar Namadi, FCA, for sustaining funding for the programme and other social protection interventions aimed at supporting vulnerable groups across the state.
Alhaji Sale Zakar explained that each ward is expected to enroll 30 beneficiaries, translating to between 300 and 330 beneficiaries per Local Government Area. He noted that beneficiaries of the programme receive a monthly stipend of ₦5,000 to encourage them to attend antenatal care services regularly and deliver their babies in healthcare facilities.
The Executive Secretary emphasized that the beneficiaries were carefully selected from the State Operations Coordinating Unit (SOCU) register, ensuring that only eligible pregnant women and lactating mothers benefit from the intervention.
He also warned beneficiaries against paying any individual for enrollment or participation in the programme, urging them to report anyone demanding money or any form of gratification.
Alhaji Sale further charged the supervisors to closely monitor the enrollment exercise and ensure accuracy in verification and documentation processes to avoid errors. He also directed that beneficiaries be adequately informed about the programme’s toll-free lines to enable them to report grievances and seek assistance whenever necessary.
The supervisors have since been deployed to the 27 Local Government Areas to oversee the smooth conduct of the enrollment exercise and ensure that the programme achieves its objectives of improving maternal and child health outcomes across Jigawa State.
