The Jigawa State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission has commenced an Intensive Investigators Capacity Building Training Workshop aimed at strengthening the investigative competence, professionalism, and operational effectiveness of its personnel in the fight against corruption and maladministration in Kaduna State.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Director Education and Public Relations, of the commission Alhaji Yusuf Suleiman and made it available to news men.
Declaring the workshop open, the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Barrister Salisu Abdu, emphasized that the training represents a strategic investment in the Commission’s most valuable asset—its human resources. He noted that the evolving nature of corruption and related offences demands that investigators continuously update their knowledge, skills, and techniques to effectively discharge their statutory responsibilities.
The Chairman who was represented by Permanent Member l Mallam Musa Kallamu Auyo, stated that the workshop was designed to expose participants to contemporary investigative methodologies, evidence gathering and management, case file preparation, interviewing and interrogation techniques, intelligence-led investigations, financial investigation, and ethical standards required of professional investigators.
He reiterated the commitment of the Commission to building a highly competent and accountable workforce capable of meeting public expectations and delivering justice in accordance with the law.
The Executive Chairman expressed profound appreciation to the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) and the MacArthur Foundation for their invaluable support towards the successful organization of the training. According to him, the partnership reflects a shared commitment to strengthening institutions and promoting transparency, accountability, and integrity in public service.
Auyo also warmly acknowledged the presence and participation of officials from the Kaduna State Anti-Corruption Unit, describing their attendance as a demonstration of the growing collaboration and peer learning among anti-corruption agencies in Nigeria.
He expressed confidence that such inter-agency engagements would enhance the collective capacity to combat corruption and promote good governance.
In his welcome address, the Director Education and Public Relations, Mallam Yusuf Suleiman urged participants to approach the training with seriousness, dedication, and an open mind. They were encouraged to actively engage in discussions, share experiences, ask questions, and maximize the opportunity provided by the workshop to improve their professional competence.
The training workshop brings together investigators and relevant officers of the Commission for intensive sessions facilitated by experienced resource persons and experts in the field of investigation and anti-corruption practice.
At the end of the workshop, participants are expected to demonstrate improved investigative proficiency, enhanced analytical skills, and a deeper appreciation of the ethical obligations associated with their duties.
The Jigawa State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission remains steadfast in its mandate to promote accountability, address public complaints, prevent corruption, and ensure that the principles of integrity and justice continue to guide public administration in the State.
