No fewer than, seven people have lost their lives, while 53 others sustained injuries as a result of windstorm in Jigawa state.
This was confirmed by the executive secretary Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Alhaji Hannafi Yakubu Fagam, while briefing news men on Wednesday in his office at State Secretariat Dutse.

He explained that, the incidents affected 5,403 households of 120 Communities in 13 local government areas of state including Dutse, Miga, Gwaram, Birnin Kudu, Ringim, Kiyawa, Babura, Kiri-Kasamma, Buji, Kaugama Gumel, Gagarawa and Sule-Tankarkar local governments areas.
According to him, four deaths was recorded in Dutse local government, one death from each of Miga, Ringim and Sule-Tankarkar local governments.
While speaking on destruction of infrastructures, the executive secretary said, the windstorm destroyed over 47 primary and secondary schools, three hospitals, two police stations among other properties.
The executive secretary said, the present administration already approved funds for interventions and relief support to the victims across the state.
Fagam who described the incidents as natural disaster, called on international donors , National organization and the general public to intervene and support the affected victims.
