The member representing Jos North North Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Adamu Aliyu, has dismissed reports claiming he resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the allegation as false and the handiwork of political opponents.
Speaking at a press briefing in Jos, Aliyu reaffirmed that he remains a registered and card-carrying member of the APC in Naraguta B Ward, stressing that he has not initiated any process to leave the party.
“It has come to my knowledge that rumours are making the rounds that I have resigned my membership of the APC. This is not only far from the truth but is the handiwork of mischief makers who harbour evil intentions for our great party and its supporters in Jos North Local Government Area,” he said.
The lawmaker explained that party membership or resignation follows a clearly defined procedure beginning at the ward level, noting that no such process had been undertaken by him.
Aliyu also addressed concerns arising from the recently concluded APC primaries in his constituency, alleging that the controversy was fuelled by unsuccessful aspirants dissatisfied with the outcome of the exercise.
He vowed to pursue all lawful and constitutional means to protect what he described as the mandate freely given to him by the people, insisting he would not abandon the struggle to defend it.
According to him, the political tension surrounding his constituency is driven by individuals seeking to reverse the developmental gains recorded during his three years in office.
Aliyu called on APC leaders at the ward, local government, state and national levels to remain vigilant against what he described as attempts to destabilise the party ahead of future elections.
He also pledged to mobilise support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, expressing confidence that both leaders would secure overwhelming support from his constituency.
Meanwhile, the APC Chairman in Jos North Local Government Area, Hon. Shehu Inuwa Litti, confirmed that the party had not received any notification of Aliyu’s resignation.
“As the APC chairman, we have not received any verbal or written communication from Hon. Adamu Aliyu indicating that he has resigned from the party,” Litti said.
