Climate Change Challenges : PACE boosts CSOs to promotes Social Protection in Jigawa

The Partnership for Agile Governance and Climate Engagement (PACE) conducted a three day trained 65 members of coalition of Civil Society Groups and government actors in Jigawa State on techniques in addressing key developmental issues on climate change, economic groups, governance and social protection in the state.
The Jigawa state Team Lead for Partnership for Agile Governance and Climate Engagement (PACE), Mr Muiz Adeniren stated this while speaking to news men.
He said “the groups are passionate individuals, civil society and government actors from different parts of Jigawa state decided to come together to address the issues in climate change, social protection and economic matters”.
“the training has builds the capacity of coalition of Civil Society Groups and Government Actors whom were working collectibly to address key developmental issues arounds climent change, economic groups, Governance and social protection decided to come together to address the issues” he said.
The PACE team leader explained that “before these, we are able to identify and select a very long list of 28 issues and torn down them to two which they would be collectibly addressing. For them to face this work, we gathered them and built their capacity and equipped them with technical know how in working under coalition for better results in achieving the desired objectives”.
“When people of divise backgrounds and interests come together for common goals they need to understand the basics of coalition. So to understand the coalition conflict management, that coalition, monitoring and evaluation”.
He said the three days training workshop was held at Pyramid ASSA Hotel in Kaduna, during the training the participants were trained on various techniques on projects implementation such as citizens engagement, advocacy, conflict management, monitoring and evaluation.
“This includes development monitoring framework, integrating conflict sensitive approach on issues work, conflict consideration in projects design and implementation, Data collection, tools/technology and reporting, interactions on strategies to ensure long term sustainability and ownership and innovative climate project idea for civil society organizations (CSOs)”.
Mr Adeniren maintained that, that would enhance the performance of those coalition group came from different intervention such as education, health, social protection, climate change and co-governance physical transparency and accountability, “so many groups from Jigawa the OGP, Jigawa education and accountability forum network of Jigawa civil society forum etc. We have the Representatives of traditional and religious leaders, Academia and the hole of them that decided to work together for the good of Jigawa state”.
The State Team Lead (STL) added that all are to work together as one big coalition to address those issues identified and selected collectively.
According to him the PACE is designed to support more accountable and inclusive institutions to respond to Nigeria’s governance and climate change challenges.
This is a governance programme, seeking to address the governance challenges that undermine development and perpetuate social exclusion in Nigeria fundi by United Kingdom (UK) International Development.
