Adamawa : FRSC Flag-Off Ember Months Operations for safer travellings in Nigeria

The Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC.has flagged off the 2025 ember months operations to ensure safe travels across the country.

Corp Marshall of the Commission, Shehu Mohammed made the disclosure at a press conference In Yola Monday stressing that it is an annual tradition of the Commission to intensify campaigns on observing traffic rules and regulations on our roads.

Represented at the Conference by the Adamawa state Command’s Sector Commander of the Commission,Abdulmalik Bello Dama, Mohammed announced that on the facts findings by the Commission, drivers are largely responsible for vehicular crashes due lack of adherence to traffic regulations.

Mohammed available reports have shown that from 15th December 2024 to of 15th January 2025, Four hundred and thirty three people lost their lives in road accident,two thousand and seventy people were injured in Five Hundred and thirty three reported cases of road crashes across the country.

According to him,these road accidents were caused as a result of violations of road regulations including, Refusal to hide to traffic regulations, Speed limit violations, driving under influence of drugs and alcohol, Seatbelt violation as well as use of mobile phones while driving.

Similarly bearing his mind on his Command activities for the ember months operations, Commander Dama expressed gratitude to the stakeholders for their support and cooperation since his assumption of office in the state.

Dama remarked that from January 2024 to September 2024,the Command recorded 109 road crashes including 241 male injured, 93 injured,16 children were injured while 31 persons were killed in road accidents.

He further explained that from January to September 2025 in Adamawa state 95 road accidents were reported involving 273 male ,96 female and 16 children noting that from July to September 2025,ninety road crashes was recorded involving 51 male, five female and 4 children with no death recorded.

He maintained that,the theme for this year ember months operations tagged “Take responsibility for your safety,stop distracted driving” will make the real vehicle owners as the target for this year ‘s engagement with a view to creating awareness for safety on the roads.

He added that a mobile court has been established for administration of justice against road regulations violators warning motorists in the habit of committing life-threatening offences on wheels to change for good or be sanctioned accordingly.
