The Jigawa State first Lady Hajiya Hadiza Umar Namadi with support from United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) celebrated World Breastfeeding Week with focus on promoting six months exclusive breastfeeding.

Speaking during the ceremony, Hajiya Hadiza called for collaborative effort to support awareness campaigns on the importance of six months exclusive breastfeeding to the children.
She explained that, the world Breastfeeding Week reminds all the stakeholders particularly government on their responsibility to ensure every child have good, strongest and healthier start in life.
The first Lady who said, this year’s World Breastfeeding Week title “Breastfeeding for Sustainable start in life Strengthen What work” explained that, state government through State Primary Healthcare Agency with support from partners introduced various programmes aimed at promoting nutrition and exclusive breastfeeding for improving the life of women and children in the state.
She commended the first Lady federal Republic of Nigeria for her visionary leadership and commitments in improving the maternal Newborn Child across Nigeria through her Renewed Hope Initiative.
Hajiya Hadiza also commended governor Malam Umar Namadi for his investment in Primary Healthcare Nutrition, maternal and child health services and other health programs.
The first Lady then called on parents, guardians,caregivers and community at large to collaborate and support lactating mothers and ensure their children is exclusively breastfeed for better socioeconomic development of Jigawa State in a near future.
While delivering his remarks, Dr Samuel Sesan Abolarin, Unicef State facilitator on Nutrition, described exclusive breastfeeding as solutions to socio-economic challenges of a present Nigeria.
According to him, UNICEF is committed to promote children rights and protection from any harm as well as to ensure they grow up healthier for future development.
He commended first Lady and Jigawa State government for their concerns and commitments towards improving the life of children in the state.
Dr Samuel Sesan then, assured continue Partnership with Jigawa State government in promoting anything that would support children to grow healthier.
