A fresh political crisis is rocking the Adamawa state Chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress,NDC with a faction led by the protem chairman, Ibrahim Bebeto rejecting the recent congresses of the party in the state.

Addressing a press conference at the party Secretary in Yola Wednesday, the protem chairman, Ibrahim Bebeto accusing the new entrants of hijacking the party ignoring the directives of the national leadership of the party in Abuja.

Bebeto decried that as a new blossoming party that has the potentials to give our people hope noting that the group who fled from other parties for the same reason they were prevented from taking over such parties, decided to carry out similar “coup” here at home in the NDC.

Bebeto also alleged that party congress committee and the new comers have viol ated the resolution reached at the party’s headquarters including maintaining the protem chairman in the state exco and sharing of positions on fifty-fifty basis for inclusivity and fairness.

“What this means is that there was a clear violation of the mutually agreed upon sharing formula for the composition of Executive committees across all levels.

“The process was marred by a flagrant abuse of established procedures guiding the conduct of party congresses.

“In view of the above irregularities,we wish to categorically state that whatever exercise was conducted in the name of Congresses in Adamawa state did not receive the consent of critical stakeholders in the state or endorsement.Consequently,we call on party members, supporters, and the general public to disregard the outcome of such exercise.

“We remain committed to due process, internal democracy, and peaceful resolution of disputes. To this end,we are currently exploring all available avenues to addressing this matter amicably and in the best interest of the party.”Bebeto emphasized.

It could be recalled that the party (NDC) claimed to have conducted elected 33-man state executive officials to run the affairs of the party for three years in the state.

Secretary of the Congress Committee, Umar Ardo Kumo said that, the exercise was conducted in a rancour free and in orderly manner stressing that the exercise terminated the tenure of the protem chairman and his exco.

“Today, this election brought to an end the tenure of protem executives headed by Mr.Ibrahim Bebeto, state protem chairman and his team in Adamawa state”.Kumo highlighted .
