The Katsina State Executive Council has approved a 100 per cent upward review of bursary allowances for eligible indigenes of the state studying in various institutions of higher learning across the country.

The approval was granted during the 8th Regular Meeting of the State Executive Council presided over by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda on Wednesday.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Executive Secretary of the Katsina State Scholarship Board, Aminu Abdullahi Tsauri, said the decision formed part of the state’s present administration’s commitment to improving access to education and easing the financial burden faced by students and their families.

He explained that the review was also aimed at promoting academic excellence and encouraging students to remain focused on their studies despite prevailing economic challenges.

Dr. Tsauri noted that the increase in bursary allowances would benefit eligible students of the state enrolled in tertiary institutions nationwide, adding that the intervention underscored the government’s determination to invest in human capital development.

According to him, the administration of Governor Radda places high priority on education as a critical tool for sustainable development and socio-economic advancement.

He further stated that the government would continue to introduce policies and programmes capable of supporting students and creating opportunities for academic growth and self-reliance among youths in the state.
