Political consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections have gathered momentum in Gombe State as Hon. Sadeeq Abubakar Gidado, PhD, Bargan Gombe, met with leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe North constituency to strengthen engagement with the party’s grassroots structure.
The meeting, held at the PDP Local Government Secretariat in Gombe, drew ward executives and party stakeholders from six wards, including Shamaki, Ajiya, Nassarawo, Bajoga, Dawaki, and Herwa.
Speaking during the engagement, Bargan Gombe said the consultation was part of a broader effort to formally engage party leaders on his political ambition, following growing encouragement from supporters and members of the public urging him to join the 2027 race.
He said the decision to step into the contest was largely influenced by sustained pressure and confidence expressed by his supporters, noting that a political support group, Kogunan Gombe, had also demonstrated commitment by purchasing his nomination form.
Bargan Gombe emphasized that grassroots consultation remains central to any serious political aspiration, stressing that ward leaders are the backbone of party organisation and electoral success.
He said, “It is important for me to begin these engagements at the grassroots because the strength of any political movement lies at the ward level.
These leaders are the closest to the people and play a vital role in shaping political direction.”
Responding, PDP ward leaders welcomed the consultation, describing it as a positive step that reflects respect for party structures and internal democracy.
They further described Bargan Gombe as a politician with strong grassroots connection, expressing confidence in his growing influence within the party and praying for his success in the 2027 general elections.
The meeting ended on a note of unity, with stakeholders pledging continued cooperation as political activities gradually intensify ahead of the next election cycle.
