The All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus candidate for Gombe South Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections, Mr. Jerry Damara, has called for unity among party members, political stakeholders and residents of the district, stressing the need for collective action to accelerate development.
Damara made the appeal shortly after emerging as the party’s consensus candidate, urging all aspirants and their supporters to put aside political differences and work together in the interest of peace, progress and shared prosperity.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Mrs. Comfort Mukollo, the candidate expressed appreciation to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for the confidence reposed in him, describing the endorsement as both an honour and a responsibility to serve diligently.
He said the support he has received from party leaders and stakeholders would further motivate him to pursue a people-focused representation anchored on integrity, inclusiveness and accountability.
“The moment calls for unity of purpose. We must rise above our differences and focus on what truly matters the development of our district and the wellbeing of our people,” Damara said.
He extended a hand of fellowship to other aspirants in the race, calling for cooperation and mutual respect, and noting that political competition should not become a source of division among people who share the same developmental aspirations.
“I urge my fellow aspirants and their supporters to join hands with me so that together we can build a stronger and more prosperous Gombe South,” he added.
Damara further emphasized that sustainable development can only be achieved through inclusive leadership, innovative ideas and the active participation of all segments of society, particularly youths, women and community leaders.
He assured residents of his readiness to maintain open engagement, listen to their concerns, and collaborate with communities to ensure that development projects are impactful and evenly distributed.
The APC candidate also called on the people of Gombe South to remain united and committed to the collective progress of the area, noting that lasting development depends on shared responsibility and a common resolve to move the district forward.
