The Executive Chairman of Gombe South Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Auwalu Jauro Bappi, has pledged to strengthen support for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), assuring that his administration will prioritise the welfare, security and smooth deployment of corps members serving in the council area.

Bappi gave the assurance while receiving the Gombe State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mrs. Chinwe Nenna Nwachuku, and her management team during a courtesy visit.

The delegation was jointly received by the Chairman of Gombe North Local Government Council, Prof. Bappah Garkuwa.

The NYSC state coordinator congratulated the two chairmen on their election and commended the longstanding support both councils had extended to the scheme, describing their contributions as instrumental to the success of NYSC operations and the welfare of corps members.

Mrs. Nwachuku expressed confidence that the cordial relationship between the NYSC and the two local councils would be sustained, noting that continued collaboration would further enhance youth development and community service across the state.

Responding, Bappi said his administration remained committed to creating an enabling environment that would allow corps members to carry out their national assignment effectively and safely.

He assured the NYSC leadership that the council would continue to support initiatives aimed at improving the welfare and security of corps members, stressing that their contributions to education, healthcare, agriculture and other sectors were invaluable to grassroots development.

The chairman also wished all corps members serving in Gombe South LCDA a peaceful, productive and rewarding service year.

The meeting was attended by the deputy chairmen of Gombe South LCDA and Gombe North Local Government Council, councillors, senior government officials and members of the NYSC management team.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation in promoting national unity, youth empowerment and sustainable grassroots development through the NYSC scheme.
