The Senator representing Jigawa Northeast, Ahmed Abdulhamid Malam-Madori, on Tuesday paid an unscheduled visit to the ongoing Kupsa Market project site,u reaffirming his commitment to grassroots development and economic transformation across the senatorial district.
The visit formed part of the Senator’s continuous efforts to monitor constituency projects and ensure the timely delivery of impactful infrastructure aimed at improving the socioeconomic wellbeing of the people, particularly those in rural communities.
The Kupsa Market project, located in Kupsa town of Birniwa Local Government Area, is one of the strategic economic initiatives championed by the Senator to stimulate local commerce, strengthen agricultural trade, and expand business opportunities in Jigawa Northeast.
Kupsa, a historic commercial community situated near the border with Niger Republic, holds enormous economic potential due to its strategic location for cross-border trade between Nigeria and neighboring communities. Despite its commercial significance, the town has long faced the challenge of inadequate market infrastructure, limiting its full economic potential.
The community, as well as surrounding towns and villages, is widely known for its vibrant cattle trade and agriculturaly produce markets, making the construction of a modern market a timely and highly beneficial intervention.
Observers and residents described the project as a major milestone that will boost commercial activities, create employment opportunities, and improve the living standards of the people in the area.
Community members who spoke during the Senator’s visit expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing it as a long-awaited development that would transform Kupsa into a more competitive commercial hub in the region.
