Katsina State Government has officially commenced a vaccination exercise for intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj, as part of efforts to safeguard them against infectious diseases during the pilgrimage.

The exercise was inaugurated by the Amirul Hajj for the forthcoming 2026 Hajj exercise, Barrister Ahmed El-Marzuq, alongside members of the state’s Hajj delegation.

The event, which took place at the premises of the Katsina State Pilgrims Welfare Board, marked the beginning of the mandatory immunisation programme for all prospective pilgrims from the state.

Speaking during the launch, Barrister El-Marzuq, who was among the first to receive the vaccine, described the immunisation as a compulsory requirement for all pilgrims in line with Hajj guidelines.

He urged intending pilgrims to ensure full compliance by taking the vaccine, stressing that failure to do so could attract sanctions from Saudi Arabian authorities.

The Amirul Hajj also commended the Pilgrims Welfare Board for putting in place effective arrangements aimed at ensuring a successful Hajj operation this year.

He further expressed appreciation to the Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, for his continued support to the board, which he said has contributed significantly to the smooth planning of the pilgrimage.
